Here's exactly what happens to your files and your data on this site:

Images

Image compression runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your image files are never uploaded anywhere — they're decoded, resized, and re-encoded on your own device, and the result never touches our servers. We have no way to see your images, even if we wanted to.

PDFs

PDF compression happens on our server, because the tools that do it well (Ghostscript, qpdf) aren't practical to run inside a browser today. When you upload a PDF for compression, we keep a copy of the file you uploaded, along with its filename, file size, the compression level you chose, the resulting compressed size, your IP address, and a timestamp. This is used to monitor the service, debug failures, and understand usage — it is not scanned, read, or used for anything else, and it is not shared with any third party, including our ad network.

If you'd rather we didn't keep a copy of a specific file, don't upload it here — we have no way to selectively delete on request at this time.

Analytics & ads

We log pageviews on this site (which pages are visited, your IP address, an approximate location derived from that IP such as country/city, browser/device/OS, and referrer) to understand traffic and usage. This site also shows ads served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies to personalize ads per Google's own policies. We don't pass any of your file data to any ad network — ads have no connection to what you upload.
